Design and the Elastic Mind Exhibition

March 26th, 2008 by Nicolas Noben

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) presents a 2008 online exhibition. The website is slick (although I tend to get lost with their next and previous…)

More information in this pdf.

The clickable ’start page’ is wicked for random clicking.

FeedJournal - The Next Generation of the Newspaper

March 11th, 2008 by Nicolas Noben

FeedJournal generates a journal looking format from RSS feeds. The idea is not new but for once the execution is decent. In the long run, I expect it to fail though, as it’s only mimicking a soon to be extinct format. The only good thing about it is nostalgia! Ok I’m being a bit harsh here, but text is so much better in a blog format or RSS feed than a fake online paper with columns all over the shop!

A great app! J/k.

The irony about hellotxt is that it helps you save time that is wasted anyway.

Nike XX3 - Flash Doom-ish product browsing

February 28th, 2008 by Nicolas Noben

Nike’s newest site, XX3, immerses you into a dark room. Find your way around to their latest products. Great photography and wallpapers gives it a home-feel. That said, it’s a bit empty and repetitive…

Great use of 3D anyway.

Another Experimental site - CUCI systematic thesaurus look-up

February 27th, 2008 by Nicolas Noben

CUCI (cut-up / code-in) is primarily an experiment in language and programming. Individual word-units are at the meme mercy of systematic thesaurus look-ups in a fashion similar to the ‘human’ process. Whereas softmachines are prejudiced, the logic-board is not.

Spamology - 3D Flash spam visualizer

February 25th, 2008 by Nicolas Noben

Spamology is a part of ongoing research examining the nature of Spam as a digital-cultural phenomenon, which aims at visualizing
the links and interrelationships between the contents of spam, the user/individual and the society, by revealing patterns in spam
which may reflect cultural and social trends, behaviors and variations.

Spamology is an audiovisual representation of word frequencies in spam e-mail messages.
the visualization is based on analysis of a private archive of spam messages which were collected during 10 years (1998-2007),
containing up to 2,000,000 emails originated from various parts of the world.
